PG&E Admits Its Equipment Likely Caused Camp Fire

Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) said it is “probable” that its equipment caused the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, CA. Following allegations of poor equipment maintenance, the company cited a damaged tower as the Camp Fire’s likely origin. PG&E filed for bankruptcy in January 2019 to cover potential liabilities following two years of devastating wildfires across Northern California. The Camp Fire in Butte County was the most destructive wildfire in California history, killing 86 people and destroying 19,000 properties.
