Last week, California Sen. Bill Dodd introduced a bill proposing the establishment of the California Wildfire Warning Center. The center would oversee a statewide network of weather and environmental monitoring stations that identify dangerous weather conditions. This state legislation is an effort to mitigate the effects of fire, to protect the health and safety of California residents, and to preserve lives, property and nature. In November 2018, the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA killed 86 people and destroyed 19,000 properties.
